Hey everyone, I wanted to get to the top of the carburator in order to get to the spacer but I can't seem to get the gas tank off without taking off the thingy that controls reserve/main/prime on the bottom. I have the 86-88 clymer manual and it says that I should just be able to slide the thing backwards after I remove the bolts but I can't seem to get it to go any further than a half an inch.

One more question, do I need to seal the junction of the new pipe if I put the Jardine slip-on on? I have heard differing opinions - some saying it doesn't matter, others saying definitely so. What does everyone think? So excited to get a better sound and a bit more top end.

Thanks alot for the help - this is such a great resource!
